Robert Ivy Is The Proud Recipient Of The Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award

Robert Ivy is one the verge of receiving one of the most prestigious awards that an architect can take home. In fact, this honor is so unprecedented, he is actually the first architect to ever have this honor bestowed upon him. On June 2, Robert Ivy is slated to officially become the first architect to ever receive the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award.

He is joining an esteemed group of former winners and as the CEO of the American Institute of Architects, there are few people who are more qualified to receive such an honor. Robert Ivy has a long and storied career and this award serves as a fitting coda.

He has served in our nation’s armed forces as a part of the United States Navy and he is also a top author in his field. Fay Jones: Architect was a hugely popular book and it is currently on its third edition. As a devotee of Andrew Lloyd Wright, Ivy strives to achieve the same objectives.

There are certain industry standards that must be met and Ivy prides himself on living up to each and every one of them. The Art Library Society of North America agrees and even cited his book as a prime example of living up to these standards when it comes to design and production.

Once he arrived at the American Institute of Architecture, he had one main objective: to grow the organization’s global footprint. By all measures, he has certainly succeeded and that is what makes him such a perfect choice as the first architect to ever be given the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award.

The award is given to residents of Mississippi who demonstrate the proper level of commitment to their craft and who are willing to put in the time to create a proper body of work. Thanks to Robert Ivy’s efforts, he is now able to join a rather eclectic list of past Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award recipients that includes everyone from writer Eudora Welty to world-famous Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman.

The architect is being credited with making the world of architecture feel far more accessible to the rest of the world and there is simply no one else from this state who is quite like him. He is proud to take his rightful place among all of the past winners and president Carl Elefante is proud to congratulate him on all of his success.
